China is building the machine that manufactures intelligence.

Inside China’s Machine (ICM) researches China’s AI, robotics, and semiconductor industries: the technologies advancing them, the companies building them, and the markets determining their value.

We connect technical understanding to business realities and capital judgment, helping readers assess what is being built, which advantages may endure, and where value may accrue.

What we cover

AI. The model companies, systems and applications competing to supply intelligence. We examine technical progress, training and inference, open-weight and proprietary strategies, distribution, customer demand and the business models that turn usage into revenue.

Robotics. The machines bringing intelligence into the world. We examine humanoids, industrial and service robots, components, autonomy, manufacturing and deployment, asking which capabilities can become reliable products and durable businesses.

Semiconductors. The technologies and supply chains that make computation possible. We follow chip design, memory, fabrication, packaging, equipment, materials and software ecosystems, examining who can build, scale and sell what the market needs.

Policy, financing and procurement run through all three. They shape which companies can compete, how industries develop and where capital is committed.

From technology to capital judgment

We ask three questions: What is technically true? How does it change the industry? What does it mean for capital?

The answer may concern competitive advantage, customer adoption, pricing power, earnings, investment requirements or valuation. Sometimes the decisive fact is a constraint. Sometimes it is a new capability, a distribution advantage or a market opening. The task is to establish which matters and why.

Inside China’s Machine combines first-hand reading of Chinese filings, technical papers and procurement documents with company disclosures, industry evidence and explicit calculations. We distinguish reported results from projections and estimates, test competing explanations, and show what evidence would change a conclusion.

Who it is for

Investors and strategy professionals following China’s AI, robotics and semiconductor industries, and engineers and operators who want to understand the commercial consequences of technical change.

The aim is to help readers form a better judgment: what is being built, which advantages may endure, where value may accrue, and which assumptions deserve another look.
